New School, Activity Bus Mark Bright Future For Lomega

September was a big month for the future of Lomega Public Schools.  Earlier this year, a bond election was held in which Lomega community members narrowly passed a measure to build a new high school and junior high building.  On September 19, a groundbreaking ceremony was held at the future site of that new building, which will be just south of the current building.

Students were bussed in from the elementary school so the entire student body could attend the ceremony, along with faculty, staff and school board members.

The dirt work is currently ongoing.  A drone was purchased to document the progress of the new building, which is scheduled to be completed in January of 2021.

Just one week later, on September 26, a new activity bus arrived on campus.  The new Freightliner bus will replace the old "Raider Bus," which is nearly 13 years old.  Students and staff were given rides on the new bus at both the high school and elementary, and several community members also stopped by to take a look.
