Connor Walker Named Academic All-State

By: Ryan Pierce

Lomega senior Connor Walker has been named to the 2020 Academic All-State class by the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence.

Academic All-Staters are nominated by their principals or superintendents and are selected on the basis of academic achievement, extracurricular activities and community involvement, as well as an essay submitted by each nominee. The Foundation chooses the state's 100 top public high school seniors for the award. This year, there were 495 nominees from around the state. Academic All-State is Oklahoma's most prestigious high school academic award. Each Academic All-Stater receives a medallion, as well as a $1,000 merit-based scholarship.

The All-Staters will be recognized at the foundation’s annual Academic Awards Banquet on May 16 in Norman. The event will be broadcast statewide on public television.

Connor is Lomega's ninth Academic All-Stater. After graduation, he plants to attend Oklahoma State University, where he will major in Management Information Systems.
