Lady Raiders Cruise to First Round Win

The Lomega Lady Raiders defeated the McCurtain Lady Bulldogs 62-40 today at Yukon High School in the first round of the State Tournament.

Four Lady Raiders scored in double figures in the win.


Freshman Syndi Walker dominated in the paint in the first quarter, scoring 10 of her 15 points to lead the Lady Raiders to a 24-13 lead after one quarter.


With Walker in foul trouble, McCurtain focused a triangle-and-two on Ady Wilson and Emma Duffy, freshman Darcy Roberts made them pay, scoring all 11 of Lomega's second quarter points, outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 11-10 en route to a 35-23 halftime lead.


Juniors Wilson and Duffy combined for 10 of the Lady Raiders 12 third quarter points, extending their lead to 47-32 after three quarters. Lomega outscored McCurtain 15-8 in the fourth quarter, securing the victory and a trip to the semifinals at the Big House tomorrow.

Roberts led the way for the Lady Raiders with 17 points. Walker scored 15, Wilson scored 11, Duffy scored 10, sophomore Hensley Eaton scored five and sophomore Shelby Russell scored four points.

Lomega will face the winner of #3 Boise City and #13 Lookeba-Sickles tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. at State Fair Arena. Lookeba-Sickles is currently leading Boise City 29-19 at halftime.
